To start the new year the universe is challenging my affirmation for 2014 “Mean what I say and say what I mean”. The practice of acting rather than reacting is my theme for 2014.
In the Bhagavad Gita when Arjuna is facing the war between the two armies, he rejects the battle. Krishna comes to his side to offer him support. He comes with his chariot and drives Arjuna in between the two armies for a philosophical discussion. This is one of my favorite scenes in the Gita, it is the symbol of our lives. We are always on the battlefield between good (ThePandavas) and bad (the Kauravas). Our senses (the four horses) wants to lead the way, but in order to get to some destination, we need to hold the reins (mind) and lead the body (chariot) in the right way (wheels). When we act out of fear or anger the horses, our senses, are in charge. The invitation for 2014, for the new agricultural cycle starting today on the full moon of Shevat, is to act out of Metta, love and kindness, and be the charioteer of our life.May we all have a fulfilling year.

Thai massage is a system of massage and manipulation developed in Thailand, and influenced by the traditional medicine systems of India, China, and Southeast Asia, as well as by yoga. The massage recipient changes into loose, comfortable clothes and lies on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. The receiver may be positioned in a variety of yoga-like positions during the course of the massage, but deep static and rhythmic pressures form the core of the massage.
The massage practitioner leans on the recipient's body using hands to apply firm rhythmic pressure. (wikipedia)
